Pay with Cash Only |
It's okay to leave home without your credit cards. In fact, if you truly want to stay out of debt, adopt a policy of cash only. That way you are buying only what you can afford.
When it comes to big-ticket items, this will force you into the habit of saving your money. While youÕre accumulating cash, take advantage of this time to research the item you want to buy and ask yourself these questions:
Why am I buying this? What other expenses are associated with this purchase? (maintenance, dry cleaning, property taxes, insurance) Is the quality and value of the product truly equal to the amount I'm paying? What else can I do with this money if I don't buy this item? Will I still be happy with this purchase tomorrow/next month/next year/in 5 years or will I wish I had the money instead?
A policy of cash only is a surefire way to avoid credit card debt. |
